Rüdiger von Fritsch served as the German Ambassador in Moscow from 2014 until 2019, and prior to that, from 2010 to 2014, he was the German Ambassador in Warsaw. Since 2020, he has been a partner at the consulting firm “Berlin Global Advisors”.

Rüdiger von Fritsch studied History and German Studies at Erlangen and Bonn, supported by a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation. Beginning in 1984, he joined the Foreign Service with early assignments in Warsaw and Nairobi, as well as at the German EU delegation in Brussels. Between 1999 and 2004, he led the planning staff for the German President, and from 2004 to 2007, he served as Vice President of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND). From 2007 to 2010, von Fritsch headed the Economic Department of the Federal Foreign Office and represented the German Sherpa in G8 negotiations.
