Since the 1990s, Cherno Jobatey has been active as a journalist and television presenter for ZDF’s Morgenmagazin and has also hosted and produced the UdLDigital talk show, which is Germany’s most popular political talk show on the internet.
Born in Berlin, he pursued political science studies at the Free University of Berlin and furthered his education in Los Angeles as a DAAD scholar. From his student years onward, he contributed to both Berlin-based and national newspapers and magazines. His entry into television began with a student job as a photocopying assistant. Cherno Jobatey also served as editor of HuffPost Germany, where he contributed articles. Since 2012, he has been a lecturer at various universities, including St. Gallen and the Technical University of Munich.
Cherno Jobatey is recognized as an expert on America, delivering precise insights both verbally and visually.
Thanks to Trump, democracy has taken on a theatrical aspect: politics as a form of entertainment. Cherno Jobatey addresses this phenomenon with impactful commentary. This is not about American gun laws, but rather about Jobatey’s compelling rhetoric that critically examines the future of the U.S. with sharp observations and occasional pointed remarks.
Subtle social divisions now run through a society once emblematic of freedom and diversity. Politics has evolved into a full-contact sport, a campaign battle, and entertainment simultaneously. It is no surprise that figures like Trump not only dominate headlines but also influence political cultures well beyond the United States.

- Geopolitics Today: End of Order, Return of Power?
A young economy minister assumed office temporarily after a coalition collapse. Within six weeks, he decided to protect a national technology company. This triggered reactions from global powers, disrupted supply chains, and unsettled entire industries—not due to war, but because power, space, and technology are being renegotiated. This occurred in the Netherlands on June 25. Welcome to contemporary geopolitics. Once confined to academic circles, geopolitics is now headline news.
- A realistic assessment of the current geopolitical landscape
- Analysis of historical trends and present power shifts
- Understanding digitalization and AI’s role in geopolitics
- Strategic advice for decision-making amid uncertainty
- Geopolitics as risk management within corporate strategy
- New thinking models beyond traditional geopolitical logic
- Clarity instead of illusions
New uncertainties require security policy and crisis management. The world as we knew it is gone. The rules-based international order and security policies that promised stability since 1945 are collapsing. Treaties lose relevance, multilateral institutions their authority, and values their binding power. The key question is no longer whether the world order is changing, but how chaotic this transformation will be and what will replace it.

Instead of buzzwords, real-life lessons and phrases that open doors.
- Digital Power. The New Battle for Interpretive Authority
Knowledge is power, and gaining the attention necessary to share knowledge has always been challenging. Attention is a valuable resource in our knowledge society. Whoever controls attention holds interpretive power. Since the 1990s and the invention of the web browser, the internet has become accessible to all. The digital revolution continues to disrupt traditional business models and communication.
The first clear sign of change was a political outsider from the Midwest running for U.S. president and defeating party elites. Obama’s election years ago demonstrated how much the attention economy had shifted.
Since Trump’s election, it is undeniable that the rules have changed. Modern technology allows almost anyone to challenge traditional opponents at low cost. TV journalist and host Cherno Jobatey explains these new rules and how everyone can learn to participate.
- Digital Power. The New Economy of Attention
Those who understand and apply the principles of the new media economy gain significant advantages and are less vulnerable. Using digital tools, network effects can create unprecedented reach. Previously, success meant appealing to mass media and individual editors. Today, it is essential to present content on social media in a way that encourages spontaneous sharing, multiplying reach.
Political disruption, once a niche topic during Obama’s 2008 election, has become widely evident since Trump’s rise. The competition for interpretive authority now follows new rules. Trump symbolizes the disruption of traditional politics. Modern technology enables anyone to challenge or attack opponents relying on old methods. The CDU faltered after the Rezo video before the European elections, and the SPD and FDP also underperformed.
Why did the CDU struggle despite focusing on European issues? How did the Greens succeed in the campaign? Was it luck or strategic agenda-setting? Anyone in the public eye can face similar challenges. Cherno Jobatey explains how to navigate and respond in this environment.
Digitalization has transformed consumer behavior across nearly all areas of life. Long-held assumptions no longer apply, and this transformation continues to advance.
Cherno Jobatey, former editor of HuffPost Germany—which rose to 15th place among news platforms within three years—explains these new dynamics. CEOs of large companies, small business owners, private individuals, and executives can all leverage these opportunities.
Jobatey details this quiet revolution, using examples from German politics, Brexit, and the “Lady Gaga phenomenon” to illustrate how power dynamics have shifted in the battle for opinion leadership and how to capitalize on this new era.
“Knowledge is power; that will never change. But never before have so many been so powerful.”
To be frank: success so far has often been a matter of luck. Those who have not embraced digital risk being relegated to a marginal position in today’s marketplace rather than occupying a central, prestigious role. Many overlook that this new world is accessible, user-friendly, and affordable.
