Gernot Blümel, former Austrian Minister of Finance and CEO of Mare TechnoPark.
Following his military service, Gernot Blümel pursued studies in philosophy and economics. His career path included roles in the Austrian Parliament and the Foreign Ministry, as well as serving as Secretary General of the Austrian People’s Party, where he was responsible for drafting a new party platform.
He subsequently held the position of Minister of the Chancellery in the first Sebastian Kurz government, overseeing art, culture, and media. Additionally, he served as Austria’s Minister for Europe and chaired the General Council of the European Union during its Council Presidency. In the Kurz II administration, he was Minister of Finance, successfully implementing the eco-social tax reform and managing the budget during the coronavirus crisis.
Since leaving politics, he has been leading the development of a research park focused on artificial intelligence in digital medicine for several years.
