Born in 1984, Dani Arnold, a professional mountaineer and mountain guide, chose in 2011 to leave his career as a machine mechanic to pursue an uncertain path in the mountains. This decision was a return to his origins, having grown up at 1700 meters above the Schächental and commuting daily by cable car to school in the valley.

Dani Arnold aims to merge speed and difficulty in his undertakings. He challenges his limits not only in summer but especially during winter. Highlights of his career include speed records on the north faces of the Eiger, Matterhorn, and Grandes Jorasses, as well as first ascents in Patagonia, Alaska, Pakistan, and China. He takes particular pride in the mixed routes he climbed in Scotland, such as “The Hurting” and “Anubis,” which are among the most technically and mentally demanding climbs. He is recognized as one of the strongest extreme alpinists worldwide and is considered Europe’s most renowned free solo climber.

In 2023, Dani Arnold’s Netflix documentary “Duel on the Abyss” was released – a project that took over ten years to complete. Just over two years ago, he accomplished the greatest feat of his life: climbing the six major alpine north faces in record time, totaling only 9 hours and 39 minutes.

Through a dynamic mix of images and film clips, Dani Arnold invites the audience into the mountain world.
