Visitors from all over the world come to the north of the city of Essen to experience cultural highlights. With the designation of the Zollverein industrial complex as a World Heritage Site, UNESCO honoured both the uniqueness of this outstanding architectural industrial monument and its current importance as a renowned hub for the creative industries and a place of communication for entrepreneurs and other hosts. Originally intended as the colliery’s cooling tower, the Octagon quickly developed into a centre for communication and encounters. WHAT DOES HYBRID MEAN?
A “true” hybrid event uses technology to include the online audience in a physical event experience – so that the online audience and live participants experience the same event as closely as possible. At hybrid events, online viewers can participate in the event just like live participants. This means contributing to questions, answers and results, interacting with speakers and connecting with other participants.
HYBRID EVENTS | DIGITAL MODULES
A digital module alone does not make a hybrid event. A conventionally planned in-person event that is supplemented with a digital streaming module or survey elements is, in principle, not a hybrid event.
Adding digital modules was a good way during the COVID phase to still publish parts of events that could not be held in person. Consistently, modern events should always be planned with digital modules as an addition, e.g. to enable access for additional participants and to differentiate participation with regard to access to competence modules.
Ultimately, comprehensive concept consulting is required here to align in-person and digital elements with objectives, budget and reach.

However, more in-depth collaboration requires individually developed proposal structures worked out together.
EXCEPTIONAL STUDIO LOCATION
In a flexible setting for projects of any kind—press conferences, meetings, exhibitions, presentations, gala events, celebrations, conferences—every form of communicative encounter finds its place. Here, people can focus on what matters: holding inspiring, successful meetings and organising work hubs or celebrations of any kind.
With 900 m² on the ground floor and 300 m² on the upper floor, the Octagon creates optimal conditions for a wide variety of prestigious events.
From ten to 750 people. Daylight in every room and the 14 m ceiling height at the centre of the building ensure a pleasant indoor climate at all times and the perfect environment for thinking and creating.
