In immediate nearness of the Alter Wartesaal (old waiting room) the Belgian design artist Arne Quinze created die kunstbar, perfecting events by its distinctive character. On his video installations “EYE C Y” he has perpetuated his muse Barbara Becker in the bar.
About 170 m ² were entirely conceived by Arne Quinze and furnished including as many facets of artistic styles as possible like colour, tone and sound, as well as design, pieces of furniture and installations – up to the drinks. There has originated an innovative bar & venue in the middle of the heart of Cologne, die kunstbar.
In narrow cooperation with the famous, in 1839 founded Cologne art association a bar concept of the special kind originated after a four-year-long planning time, here in the heart of Cologne at the end of 2008.
In annual change the Cologne art association suggests a famous artist who gets the job to style die kunstbar. Nevertheless, the whole piece of art is not to be considered as an ‘exhibiting gallery’, but rather as a form of pulsating bar trade.
