Dr. Steffi Burkhart – Understanding the new generation’s rules of engagement.
Dr. Steffi Burkhart holds a doctorate in health psychology. For over a decade, she has been engaged in research, writing, and speaking about human psychology and brain function, and in recent years, she has incorporated artificial intelligence into her area of expertise.

These include management conferences, congresses, anniversaries, customer events, and panel discussions.
Steffi Burkhart understands why businesses can no longer overlook Generations Y, Z, and Alpha. The topic is critical and far-reaching, encompassing the entire transformation of the workplace. Generation Y acts as a pioneer by challenging traditional success models in work and leadership, initiating the digital era, and transferring digital rules to the analog work environment.
Are the younger generations unconventional? – Contemporary expectations for work and leadership. Young people as agents of cultural change in society and the workplace.
Dr. Steffi Burkhart addresses this interplay as an expert before leading scientists (such as at the SAP University Alliance with 120 professors from institutions including the University of Southern California, KIT, and Stanford University), senior administrators (over 52 state secretaries at the E-Government Congress), and across various industries from trade to high-tech. She highlights the rapid development of the AI revolution, the critical importance of AI integration across organizations, and the significant shift in educational authority from traditional institutions like schools and universities to companies, which is currently occurring on a large scale.
Our work environment and society are undergoing profound changes that impact everyone. The key question is how we will shape these changes. Current topics on generational diversity and the future of work include:
- What are the defining traits and skills of each generation?
- How do they communicate? What are their differences and similarities?
- What conflicts emerge, and how can they be resolved?
- How do Generations Y, Z & Alpha prefer to be engaged?
- What considerations are essential in recruitment?
- What would the world lose if I and my company did not exist?
Steffi Burkhart is well aware of the challenges faced by businesses and employees alike and considers herself an advocate for human capital. She motivates with valuable insights, offers fresh perspectives, and delivers practical “quick wins” along with strategies through her Human & Technology centered Ecosystem to help companies, employees, and products thrive in the 2020s and 2030s.
Additionally, Dr. Steffi Burkhart is a leading New Work expert in the German-speaking region and a pioneer in generational research, focusing on Millennials, Generation Z (Tech-Natives), and Generation Alpha (AI-Natives).
In September 2024, she assumed one of the four curator roles for Deutsche Telekom’s Digital X event on the theme “Future of Work.” Since 2014, she has delivered over 100 lectures on the future of education and more than 500 presentations and keynotes at major international corporations, nearly all DAX companies, and associations. Dr. Burkhart has shared stages with prime ministers, CEOs, top decision-makers, and scientists, and played a significant role as an elected expert in shaping Austria’s future strategy.
Generations Y (Millennials), Z, and Alpha
By 2030, Generations Y, Z, and Alpha will constitute 75% of the workforce in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, driving fundamental change. Emerging work trends such as remote work, career multigraphs, lateral entry becoming standard, quitting and the great reshuffle, three new work drivers (contribution orientation, community orientation, passion), four work locations, and the office as a secondary place of experience—largely influenced by Millennials and Gen Z—are already intensifying pressure on companies, managers, and teams.
Despite the rise of autocratic movements globally, we are currently experiencing the most democratic period in human history, enabled by AI technology, as democracy fundamentally means equal opportunity and rights for all individuals.
