Just over 25 years ago, the site where art, culture and science now meet and form an innovative and international meeting place was an industrial wasteland. Now, modern buildings as well as historic buildings with centuries of history characterize the scene; the latter even makes it part of the UNESCO World Heritage! Formerly used in very different ways, they now provide an incomparable setting for various events in Potsdam.
Unique event locations
One of the most attractive buildings, not least because of its age, is the 700 m² Schinkelhalle from 1823. It is connected via a foyer to the 350 m² Art Space, which not only presents eighteen exhibitions of established artists per year, but also regularly gives up-and-coming artists a chance. In the course of an event, receptions or breaks can also be spent here. Directly in front of the Schinkelhalle, with its 3,500 m², is the renovated Schirrhof. It is passable by trucks and buses and is suitable as a setting for BBQs, summer parties or Christmas markets.
The arena has another 700 m² to offer and also has a 230 m² foyer. Whether presentations, conferences or trade fairs – you have found the right setting on site. Dinner events and get-togethers are also easily implemented, but primarily the arena is used as a concert hall and is equipped for this purpose with extensive technical equipment and excellent acoustic insulation.
