BHROX bauhaus reuse for Events in Berlin
The BHROX bauhaus reuse on the central island of Ernst-Reuter-Platz in Berlin is a pioneering project by zukunftsgeraeusche in cooperation with the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district and Campus Charlottenburg (TU Berlin & UdK Berlin). This public center and urban laboratory offers groups of 10 to 100 people the perfect setting for events, film/photo shoots, presentations, streaming, meetings, conferences, and congresses as an event venue with 166 m² of usable space.
The BHROX program is dedicated to transdisciplinary education, research & participation. Topics such as modern society, politics, living culture, sustainable urban development, circular economy, and the future of education & work are at the center of attention. The glass structure was built from reused facade elements of the Bauhaus Dessau, which were created during the major post-war renovation of 1976.
Conceptually, Bauhaus reuse stands for reuse and cultural advancement: an examination of the heritage, guiding principles, and narratives of modernism. The focus of the project, which began in 2019 with the re:bauhaus Festival, is on social emancipation and political conditions in the context of Bauhaus and functionalist modernism. This takes place through transnational exchange, with special consideration of Central and Eastern Europe.
