When planning an event, organisers usually look for an exclusive, central and unusual location that offers guests that certain something. One type of venue that conjures up a unique atmosphere is an off-location. Below, we explain what makes an off-location so special.

What is an off-location?

Off-location refers to venues that do not meet the standards of event venues such as concert halls, conference centers, or event locations. These are often unusual buildings such as disused factories with large warehouses and workshops, all located in remote locations, outdoor areas, or historic buildings such as palaces, castles, or churches. These locations are essentially repurposed as event venues or for film and photo shoots, as they were originally designed for other uses.

Off-locations give events an atmosphere that a conventional venue cannot achieve. Events in an off-location are highly sought after, as their flair stimulates creativity and imagination and provides the perfect breeding ground for individual concepts and ideas.

The planning options are becoming more flexible, which provides guests with surprising moments. The partial lack of infrastructure can also pose challenges for event planners, as there is no power supply, for example, or the travel routes for guests are difficult. In some cases, permits must also be obtained to hold events.

To ensure the success of the event, organizers may therefore need to take additional technical or organizational measures. However, large usable areas, a cool atmosphere, and a modern industrial look are some of the features that contribute significantly to an event in an off-location being labeled “particularly valuable.”
